The brilliant biographer of Patrick Leigh Fermor and Elizabeth David visited us to reveal all that she has discovered about novelist, Elizabeth Jane Howard.

Elizabeth was much loved and highly acclaimed for her writing, and particularly known for the Cazalet novels. She was also held with great affection in Suffolk, having made her home here in Bungay.

Artemis gave an illustrated talk detailing the material she has been poring over for the past three years in compiling this biography.

We gathered together in the stunning panelled room in Woodhall Manor, the door open to the fountains burbling outside with an owl hooting intermittently during this lovely summer's evening.

Artemis presented the story of Jane's life with a slide show, and explained the challenges she faced in compiling the biography. The audience was enthralled throughout and eager to ask questions when Artemis concluded her talk.

Jane was held with great affection in Suffolk, having made her home here in Bungay.

It was a fascinating evening for all those who know and love the writing of Elizabeth Jane Howard, and for those who were new to her work. She had an astonishing life.
