The High Street
by Alice Melvin

The High StreetThere aren't many towns which can still boast a street of independent, individual shops where we can enjoy variety, a sense of community and familiarity; where the shopkeepers know our names and anticipate our every need!

This fold-out picture book celebrates the diversity of the traditional High Street. The story has been written and illustrated by Alice Melvin and is a simple tale of Sally, a little girl who has a list of 10 unusual objects which she wants to buy one day on a walk into town.

We see her visit each shop in turn, and the page opens out to reveal the interior, displaying in wonderful detail all the items offered for sale. There is a music shop, a greengrocers, a china shop, a pet shop, and so on.

One by one Sally is able to tick items off her list, in the lovely rhyming story.

This is a book to treasure and will appeal to children aged four and above, but all members of the family will enjoy spotting a new detail in the illustrations with each reading.
